Sourcing Sweet Pea Seeds
In the middle part of the 20th century, there was a booming market for gardening and garden seeds, including sweet peas, which were very popular among home gardeners. After falling a little bit out of fashion, the sweet pea craze has returned to the United States, but we’re still a little bereft of good sources for seed, most of which come from the UK and require expensive phytosanitary certificates to import.
You’ll see a huge influx of sweet pea seed companies pop up in the next few years, including a line of seeds from this farm, but until then, I thought I’d share a few of my favorite sources. There are some that are well known that I am intentionally leaving off of this list.

*a quick note that Ardelia is taking a year off after a challenging 2023 growing season, but this is hands down my favorite place to get seeds.
